Michael Earls is a web developer who has been working with computers since 1982, when his parents bought him a TI-99/4A home computer. His professional career started in 1996 when he developed an online catalog for a large publishing company. Since then, he has worked on both internal and external web applications of various sizes. Currently, he is employed by the Alabama Department of Transportation in the Montgomery, Alabama area. He has a passion for development and is always looking for ways to apply technology to solve everyday problems.
This talk describes the basics of JSON Web Tokens (JWT) and describes a mechanism for authentication and authorization between legacy (.NET Framework) web applications and modern .NET Core Web API REST services using JWT.
